The Convenience of Bottled Water Service

June 22nd, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Morgan Hamilton I usually don’t pay much attention to the results of medical studies that proclaim something or other is bad for my health. It seems that they contradict themselves on a regular basis. Yes, I already know I should lay off the double cheeseburgers and extra large french fries for lunch. I may not need it but I’m going to have it anyway. I really don’t need anyone preaching to me. I don’t think anyone likes that. But I have to admit that there are some warnings that I do heed, and that includes anything that has to do with drinking water. As soon as I discovered how many toxins and added chemicals are contained in the water that comes out of our spigots, I promised myself I would check out a bottled water service. I used to think that only businesses could pay for monthly bottled water service. While that may have been true a decade ago, that’s definitely not the case today. It seems is that of every other house on the block now has a bottled water service there every day he needs. More and more people are realizing just how important it is to have a convenient source of pure, refreshing water at home as well as at the office. At the same time, bottled water service providers are a substantial economic market that they definitely want to tap into, so they’ve tailored their packages to fit both individual and family needs. As a result, I was able to sign up for home bottled water service that relief served my needs and was affordable at the same time. If you’re thinking about getting bottled water service for your home or office, here are a few helpful hints to think about. First of all, make sure you know what you are getting for your money. Most of the time, you can actually tell the company how much water you believe she will go through so they can give you a solid estimate as to what you’ll need. However, you have to bear in mind that there’s a lot more to bottled water service than just the H2O. You’ll also need the water cooler unit, which can contain a heating element as well, cups and you will want ongoing maintenance in case of mechanical failure. Before signing a contract, make sure you know what you’re paying for. Also, you should ask if there is any flexibility to the plans. There are some services that you may not want so there’s no sense in paying for them. And as always, check the fine print so you don’t get burned. Some bottled water services assess fees and penalties if your actual usage varies from the amount stated in your plan. There is usually a penalty if you terminate the contract before it expires. If you simply want to try out the bottled water service for a while, I would suggest not signing any long term contracts until you feel comfortable with what you’ll consume. The more you know about the plan right from the start, the less chance there will be of encountering problems later on. After I signed up for my bottled water service I noticed an immediate improvement and the tastes of our food and drinks that use that same water. It is also relief to know that our water is safe and pure, well at least as far as we know. Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning food and drink. Edgeworthia Chrysantha

June 19th, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Geoff Bryant Although it is a member of the Thymelaeaceae, the family that includes the daphnes, it would be hard to imagine a plant less like a daphne at first glance. However, if you are familiar with the deciduous Daphne genkwa, there is some hint of resemblance there. The genus comprises three very similar species from China and Japan. It is named after Michael Pakenham Edgeworth (1812-81), a part-time botanist, plant collector and employee of the East India Company. The plant grown in our gardens and sold in garden centres is commonly labelled E. papyrifera, which is actually a different species. There is some confusion over this, even among botanists. Apparently E. papyrifera has white flowers, not the yellow of E. chrysantha, though some botanists regard them variations of one species. Edgeworthia chrysantha is a heavily-wooded deciduous shrub. It grows to around 1.2-1.8m high by 1.5m wide. Its 12.5-17.5cm long, pointed oval leaves are soft green with prominent midribs and felted when young. The foliage is attractive, especially when young, but this is a plant grown for its flowers. They are bright yellow aging to creamy white, tubular and about 1 cm long. Individually they are nothing much, but they are densely packed in 8cm diameter globose heads. The are very fragrant and open until late winter from buds that have been obvious from late autumn. The flowers are followed by dry, purplish-green berries known technically as drupes. This is an often underrated shrub and I’d be the first to admit that it is not always instantly appealing. At first, its rather sparse growth and very heavy branches can seem grotesque. But with time these things tend to be overlooked in favour of the delicate colouring and fragrance of the flowers, and the beauty of the new foliage. A moist, well-drained, humus-enriched soil with partial shade is best - the sort of conditions you would give your rhododendrons and camellias, or for that matter your daphnes. It is hardy to around -15C and thrives in a cool temperate climate.Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings, aerial layers or seed. Try Edgeworthia, it’s not difficult to grow and although bare for much of the year it has its moment of glory when flowering, and definitely has that ‘weird’ appeal that makes it one for the collector. The Truth About Your Health

June 15th, 2008 by moepaprocki

By John Hillage BEWARE OF THE CULTURAL HYPNOSISWe live in a cultural hypnosis that has taught us that we are fragile. It has taught us that things are happening to us. It has taught us that drugs are the answer to disease. We have been conditioned to feel fragile, or in danger. Most of us think that some little bug flu, aids, cancer, etc is going to sneak into us some day and take us down! Im here to remind you of the truth YOU ARE NOT FRAGILE. The truth is that our natural state is one of Strength, Health, and Energy. Our society as a whole has been led to believe that most sickness and disease comes from external agents attacking our body. This is simply not true. The truth is that health comes from within, and is also lost from within. The truth has been with us for thousands of years. It has been swept under the carpet, however, in the name of profit it is in certain peoples interest that we feel vulnerable. You see, fear will make us buy and consume just about anything.Pharmaceutical companies will NEVER discover a cure for Cancer, AIDS, or Diabetes, etc.Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on finding treatments for SYMPTOMS of diseases. They want us to keep applying an ointment on the symptoms, but never deal with the SOURCE of the disease. The root cause. Thats where it all happens. Your dis-ease is a symptom of something very fundamental happening within you.Why dont they discover a cure for your disease? The answer is simple Its not in their interest! They are raking in billions every year from selling you consumable products to treat symptoms.Products that you have to buy over and over again every day of your life until the day you die.You see, its MUCH more profitable this way The noted economist Paul Zane Pilzer, in his excellent book The Next Trillion Dollar Economy (www.paulzanepilzer.com), exposes and blames the processed food and pharmaceutical companies for the current sad state of affairs when it comes to Americas health problems. Do you want to play into their hands, ingest foodstuffs that are killing you, and then make pharmaceutical companies richer by having them treat symptoms of the diseases youve created through your lifestyle or do you want to take responsibility, live the truth, and be free from all disease? Everything you know about health is wrong We are lead to believe that germs and viruses cause disease. Avoid or kill the germs and maybe you can avoid the disease. We are taught that illnesses like cancer and diabetes can just show up, for no good reason and that the only solution is medicine and surgery if were lucky. We dont feel empowered about our health and we place it in the hands of experts and hope that when we get ill, they will be able to help us get healthy again and live for longer. After all we dont know what to do, so isnt it a good thing that we have all these experts and drugs researchers out there to tell us what to do?The reality is that we are living and being medically treated in a way that endangers our health. This is NOT an attack on the medical profession. Doctors care immensely about human beings and they will give their heart and soul at the expense of their own health, emotions, or families to help other people recoverfrom disease in the only way they know how. Most of them go to Medical School for almost a decade, and then theyre running full tilt trying to help everybody. The truth is, our culture has put doctors in a horrible position. The half-life of the current medical education is 4 years, according to the American Medical Association. This means that a doctor leaving school today knows 50% more about medicine than someone who left 4 yearsago. 8,000 new drugs have come out in the last 4 years. How do doctors keep up to date? Doctors are primarily educated about new advances in medicine by the drug companies salesmen!Similarly, we The Consumers if you like, are constantly being told what to believe usually by the researchers of drug companies promoting their drugs! As doctors and patients, we allow these salespeople to become our Health Gurus even though, as weve discussed, they patently have other interests, aside from helping us to actually get better! Two things are for certain. Firstly we can feel compassion for doctors Go and watch what a doctor has to do to make it through medical school. What a dehumanising process! It is unbelievable what they go through out oftheir desire to help others. They learn from day one that they can never be wrong, because if they are wrong, their treatment may result in illness or death for the person they are trying to help. Medical school training is also an intentionally gruelling process, designed to physically push the weakerstudents over the edge. They do this so that they know that as a doctor you will be able to take the pressure in a real life-or-death situation and that you wont trip up. Perhaps the intentions are good, but its hardly awholesome learning environment for the doctors! Doctors in training are given more work than they could possibly do. Many doctors have to take all kinds of stimulants to stay up and study they learn early on to be dependent on chemicals. Medical School is an abusive, destructive, dehumanising process. Students have zero time to stop and say: Hey,does this make sense to me? They have to know the answer to whats being taught NOW, or theyre out. Their whole life theyve got to be right because not being right means taking the responsibility for harmingsomeone who has entrusted you to make them better, and being wrong can even threaten their lifes purpose as a doctor. The only way for them to be right all the time is to do exactly what they’re taught, to the letter. It takes a great deal of courage, and a knack for thinking outside the box for a doctor to opt out of the conventional way of thinking and search for what really helps people. These traits are all but trained out of doctors by the time they leave medical school. In addition, it takes a long time for medical convention to accept anything holistic or new and doctors who stick their necks out publicly to examine or recommend anything unconventional are risking their reputation. As a result such doctors are rare. By extension, the other thing we must know for certain is this: NOW is the time for us, The Consumer, to take more responsibility for our own health! A Different Aproach We live in a society today that is about Better living through chemistry & surgery. Lets examine a different approach an approach that has worked for thousands of years that has made a huge difference in the quality of peoples lives. HEALTH IS ENERGY & VITALITY. Thats right. Health is not about not being sick, or getting by, it is about real, honest to goodness Energy and Vitality. Its about feeling great! Its about having a packed day, getting loads done and having energy left over at the end! Its about living life like you mean it and enjoying the process!! Its about bouncing out of bed in the morning and roaring into another day with so much energy that other people may ask you, What are you on?!!This kind of life is not a fairy tale or a dream, its a reality, and there are many people who already live like this, not just for a week or two out of the year, but EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES! If you arent one of these people, theres something you should know: THE QUALITY OF OUR LIVES DEPENDS ON THE QUALITY OF OUR CELLS. What are cells? You and I have 75 trillion each. Every living thing, plant or animal is made up of cells. They are the tiny building blocks of life. What do they do? They dont just fill you up like polystyrene packaging, each cell is a living, breathing, reproducing organ, with a specific job inside your body. They compose our organs of sight, sound, smell and taste, every nerve in our bodies, and our brains. They make up the lungs that we breathe with, our beating hearts, our muscles, our skin . even our blood. Our cells, each in their specific way, take the information and resources that are given to them and process these to get a specific result. For example, give a cell water and it will absorb what it needs and use it to support chemical reactions, and remove waste products. Give a nerve-cell information in the form of a tinyelectrical pulse and it will help transport this information to brain, or organ. So you can see that cells are absolutely essential to life. If your cells are sickly and weak, toxic, undernourished and constantly lacking oxygen, where do you think that leaves you? Feeling awful!!!One of a cells many jobs is to create energy, just to do the other jobs it needs to do. When you have cells that are strong and vital they will easily be able to create enough energy, and when every cell can do its job effectively how do you think you will feel??? Thats right, Energetic and Ready for action! It stands to reason that if you want loads of energy, youd better take real good care of YOUR CELLS! The cells in our bodies must be nurtured. Health starts, and ends at a cellular level. As your cells go, so do you go. With anything you do, stop and think: What is this going to do to my cells?Cells are very sensitive devices protected by an extremely fragile outer membrane. Given the right conditions, a cell is programmed to get better all by itself even cancerous cells! Yes, you read correctly - on almost every occasion, a sick cell DOES NOT NEED INTERFERENCE! It needs nurturing, and it will get better of its own accord! That is why we have skin to cover us, and why all our orifices have a series of filtering devices to make sure that we are protected from anything getting directly into our bloodstream because except in cases of extreme emergency - IT ISNT NECESSARY! Imposing foreign influences on the body usually just gives it another imbalance to deal with, on top of the weakness and sickness it is already experiencing. Alas current health culture intrudes again. We have learned that when we get ill, we must inject or otherwise absorb foreign matter directly into our bloodstream (the direct supply line to each cell), with no filtering device to protect it, or worse still, we must chop out the offending bits of ourselves! And then we wonder why we dont seem to get any better over the long term! Summary: Health is energy and vitality. Our overall energy and vitality is dependent on the health of our cells.Sick cells DO NOT NEED INTERFERENCE! They need nurturing, to get better by themselves!I hope you have been inspired to find out more about what my e-books have to offer in helping you cure your disease and experience outstanding levels of health, energy, and wellbeing. Parenting - My Story

June 7th, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Jennifer Sprague When I became pregnant with my daughter, Aubrey, I was 21 years old, freshly married and scared to death! I read all the books, including the “What to Expect” series (even the infant and toddler ones). All these books gave us “one size fits all” kind of parenting advice. When Aubrey was born, we practiced the “one size fit’s all”; parenting advocated by all the books I read. We encouraged her to fall asleep on her on, meaning we let her cry herself to sleep. I also encouraged Aubrey to feel comfortable playing alone, and not need me. I did however KNOW that breast milk was best, and since I did not know that the resources were out there to seek help to learn HOW to breastfeed, I pumped. Fast-forward 5 years. I unexpectedly got pregnant with my son. This time I found myself alone. So, instead of reading (yet again) all the more mainstream books, I instead turned to my heart. I searched my heart for the kind of parent I wanted to be. The kind of child I wanted my son or daughter to be. I was not going to have help this time, so it had to be something I would understand, stick with and love, unlike the parenting style I choose with my older daughter. I had no idea about Attachment Parenting. I did not know there was a name for how I instinctively parented my son. I just followed heart. I was steadfast in my resolve to breastfeed my son. I sought so much help in this. I had issues, just like many other first time nursing mommas. From problems with to much milk, to problems with the pace that my milk did flow as well. We struggled, but it was a struggle that really made me feel good, like I was really doing the best thing possible for myself and my child. We eventually “got it” and it was/is the best thing in the world for both of us! Then while at a LLL Meeting someone was wearing a ring sling. I thought it was amazing to be able to hold your baby AND get something done! So I bought one. This was my first and not my most comfortable, but I learned that I could have my newborn son with me, and still tend to my 5-year-old daughter and get work done around the house. I searched, high and low, to find the perfect sling for me. I learned how many different types there were, and decided on how I liked mine best. When I did not find one on the market that catered to my needs and wants, I created my own. It was not till then, that I accidentally bumped into the name “Attachment Parenting”; I started reading, and was amazed and shocked that there were other mommas just like me. Mommas who loved their children enough to listen to their hearts AND their children’s cries! I also learned that my co-sleeping is actually a great way to “attachment” parent, and is especially good when you are breastfeeding. I was introduced to cloth diapers, which at first I thought, “NO WAY; Are people NUTS?”; Well I know different now. I then began cloth diapering my then 8 month old little boy. The patterns are so fun, the work is minimal and I know that I am doing just a little part to save the earth. Not to mention save some money! Another added benefit to my choosing cloth, is my son has extremely sensitive skin, and with cloth diapers he has had not ONE break out — not even a hint of any type of diaper rash. To me Attachment Parenting is not at all about a set guidelines though this is the set provided by Attachment Parenting International: 1. Preparation for Childbirth 2. Emotional Responsiveness 3. Breastfeed your Baby 4. Baby Wearing 5. Shared sleep and Safe Sleeping Guidelines 6. Avoid frequent and prolonged separations from your baby 7. Positive Discipline 8. Maintain balance in your family life We (as a family) practice several or most of these guidelines, now. Though like I said, my daughter as a baby was not parented this way, so I have a good sense of the exact diffrences in the two children. Why these guidelines are nice to see, they are (to me) just that guidelines, to me Attachment parenting is more about Instinctive parenting listening to my heart and doing what comes naturally to me, not about some set of guidelines I “must” follow. Now my son is 22 months old, still and still totally “Attachment Parented,” which to me means he is continueing to co-sleep, nurse, is still being worn on a daily basis, and still has cute cloth on his little butt every day AND night. He walks, has started talking, and is becoming a real “little man” (I am sometimes sad to say.) I am confident that he is so well adjusted because I was and am so steadfast in “my kind of parenting”; and my beliefs. Jennifer Sprague, co-owner of High Top Baby Designs. Early Spring Cleaning

June 1st, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Kandi White Has anyone noticed how fast 2004 is going? Hey, we are in December already. I really like December not only because peopleare nicer to each other and all the pretty decorations are around, but people stop and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Did you get that gift you wanted last year from your husband orwife or are you wishing for it again this year? I encourage you to go for it and I also want to invite you to accept a FREE gift that is greater than any gift you can imagine. That gift is to accept Jesus into your home and most importantly into your life this Christmas. Make it a personal gift. You do not have to go shopping for it, you do not have to wish or beg for it, just simply ask and it will be given to you. In return for the gift of inviting Jesus to dine with you and livein you, do some early spring cleaning. Think of all the thingsthat are worrying you and getting you down. Give them to Jesus,he will gladly accept them. Most importantly tell him thank youfor taking them from you. Do not worry that he cant handle them,he can handle truck loads of worry. Give Jesus your bad habits and all those little things that wecall sins. Tell him all about them. Jesus will listen and theresno bad habit or sin he cant fix. As a matter of fact the pricefor our sins has already been paid. Once we repent, we are forgiven. Look, more early spring cleaning finished. Dont worry Jesus can handle everything and help us clean up our acts. He really wants to do this for us. Is there someone youre not speaking to or cant get along with?Tell Jesus your problems. Hes willing to listen and he reallydoes care. He will help you make amends. If we just give it all to Jesus this Christmas and every day of our lives, by spring we might just need to bring out the dust cloth because things will be so much cleaner and lighter. There will be joy instead of sadnessand a peacefulness within that is sometimes hard to explain. Please, early spring clean and give it all to Jesus each and everyday. Walking Talking Advertisements

May 29th, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Will Dylan So you’ve made a sale. Great! Now what? You’re not just going to sell your new customer a product and let them walk away, are you? Not when you’re marketing on tight budget! You now have to use the customer in front of you to build your business, and you do that with a successful referral program. Referrals work. Word of mouth advertising is still the most powerful form of advertising available, and it’s getting ever MORE powerful in 2004. The largest companies in this country have cut their advertising budgets over the last 10 years and directed that money towards generating positive PR and good word of mouth (a.k.a. “buzz”) for their products. (Most marketing people who are paid to buy and sell advertising would rather you didn’t know that, but it’s a verifiable fact). So how do you build a successful word of mouth program for your business? Just ask. Offer your customers a discount on their next purchase if they refer a new customer to you. A lot of companies do this already, but amazingly, not many of them publicize it. If they remember, they mention it to you on your way out the door. Well I say you make damn sure your customer knows before they leave your store or your website that you want their business, and you want them to talk about your product or service to their friends as well. Think of your local mechanic. They might have mentioned to you at some point that if you refer a friend, they’ll give a small discount next time around. But they could do much better than that, couldn’t they? If I owned a garage (and believe me I never will because I can barely hold a wrench let alone use one), I’d make sure that after every transaction I told my customers that if they refer a client to me, and that client brings their car in for any kind of repair at all, I’d give them a free lube oil and filter on their next visit. That’s a retail value of about $20. It would cost me about $10. If you were in the auto repair business, wouldn’t you buy a new customer for $10!?! The same logic applies to online sales or any other retail model you can think of. Just give your customer a reason to make the referral. Deliver good service, charge a fair price, and make it worth their while to send a friend your way. (By the way, the referral program also helps to bring the original customer back in to get their free oil change, so it’s really like getting 2 follow up visits from just one referral.) What about the plumbing business? Here’s a quiz for you. Name 2 plumbers in your area. I’ll wait. Couldn’t do it, could you? Most plumbers are independent businessmen and women. They don’t have big advertising budgets, and they only service a local area. So you can imagine that a plumber, who sees 4 or 5 or maybe 6 clients a day would be well served by offering a referral program. Turn those 6 clients into 12 by having them each refer a friend who has a plumbing problem. Now you’re saying that this is not possible. You only call a plumber when you need one, so what good is a 10% discount off your next plumbing job? It’s not like the mechanic who does regular maintenance on your car. You might use a plumber once, and then never again. How would a plumber come up with a referral program? I’m no plumber, but here’s my idea. You refer any client to me who has a job of $100 or more, and I’ll install a brand new kitchen faucet for you at no charge. The faucet won’t cost a plumber much, because he’s got the inside track on deals in the industry. So a nice $80 faucet at the store probably costs him $40. And he can put it in about 15 minutes or less. Now who wouldn’t want a nice new kitchen faucet, installed free! All they have to do is mention you to their friends. If one of them calls, you make $100 less $40 for the faucet, and gain another client for the future. Do that for a few years and watch your business grow exponentially. In small business you can’t outspend your competition but you can outsell them by employing your own customers as your sales force using a good word of mouth referral program. With almost no upfront cost and a huge potential upside, it’s well worth the time invested in creating a good referral program for your business. Trade Show Case to Counter Systems

May 26th, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Andy Keeler Nearly all trade show displays are shipped in cases that are designed to hold hardware, graphics, display lighting, and other trade show products. Often, these cases can be easily converted to a podium or counter with a simple fabric or graphic wrap to encircle the case. When this is done, you have what is called a “case to counter conversion kit”. This system is attractive to most exhibitors because the case is usually already purchased, so adding a simple graphic can give the case extra functionality with little extra cost. The concept of the Case to Counter System is perfect for the exhibitor who is concerned about shipping costs. Instead of absorbing the cost of an additional case to hold counter hardware and graphics, the case itself can be converted to a podium counter that can be used to hold a laptop computer or other useful tools. One disadvantage is that you cannot easily access materials stored inside the counter without taking off the counter wrap (usually graphic or fabric). Although this is easy to do, it is probably not something you would want to do in the middle of a trade show. Most companies offer a graphic podium wrap and a fabric podium wrap. The fabric podium wrap is a solid color piece of fabric that wraps tightly around your case to make it look like a counter. The graphic podium wrap is usually relatively plain, with a company name and logo on the front. This is a great way to ensure that your branding efforts are even more successful. At Tradeshowdirect, we specialize in providing high-quality trade show displays and booths to our customers across North America. Increasing The Number Of Guests In Your Restaurant

May 14th, 2008 by moepaprocki

By Lydia Quinn Quite possibly the biggest challenge facing any restaurant is how to increase the numbers of guests in your restaurant. For years owners have been trying new ideas and concepts to attract customers to their restaurants. Daily specials, sponsoring local sports or musical events and advertising in local newspapers or high schools are all tested methods of drawing guests into your restaurant, but they are dated and have a minimal impact if any. The true secret to increasing the number of guests in your restaurant is, Do it Right. Whatever you decide as your theme or menu for your restaurant doesnt matter. What does matter is that you focus on what you do well, and nothing else. Lets start with the menu. Are your portions the right size? How many of the plates being brought back to the kitchen are empty? If the plates arent empty, what items remain? These are questions an owner or manager should be asking the servers regularly to ascertain which portions are too large and which are too small. Do you have too many items on your menu? In the hopes of attracting more customers, restaurants have begun to diversify their menus by offering exotic foods and delicacies. The end result is an overloaded menu that provides too many choices for the guest. A typical menu should contain no more than 8-10 appetizers, 10-12 main courses and 4-6 desserts. There are two reasons why this formula works. The first reason is that by limiting the number of items the kitchen has to produce, they become faster and more skilled in the preparation of those dishes. When diners go out for dinner they have a rough idea of what it is they want to eat. By providing a simplified, but well-balanced menu means the guests can spend more time enjoying the dining experience and less time selecting the meal. Now that you have the menu and the kitchen in order we need to look at the service. There is no better way of increasing the number of guests in your restaurant than by providing excellent guest service. Think yourself, how many times you have returned to a restaurant that had great food and lousy service. For most of you the answer will be never. Now think about how many times you have returned to a restaurant that had great service and mediocre food. Most of you will probably say that on at least one occasion you have gone back to a restaurant because the service you received was outstanding. Service-staff are the front-line workers for your restaurant and therefore the strongest impression of your product. Having a capable service team is a huge challenge for any restaurant, but the best way to reduce theses challenges are training and consistency. Train your team to perform each task in the same manner every time and you will see dramatic results. If every server serves each guest the same way (exclusive of individual personalities) every time, you will see their speed increase, their ability to assist other team members increase and most importantly their accountability will increase. At the end of the day it comes down to the owner or manager to follow-up on standards and training. If a restaurant has an incredible service package that is never enforced, then there is really no service package at all. As an owner or manager you should visit each table and speak with as many guests as you can to get a true feel of how your service and kitchen teams are performing. Remember, these challenges can be overcome with a little planning, lots of training and consistent follow-up. Its your business, if you dont take an active role in ensuring its success, who will?
